JAYSON Castro said he still cannot understand why Petron's Ronald Tubid hit him with what he felt was a "cheap shot" on Wednesday night, but accepted the Boosters veteran's apology.
“Okay kami niyan eh, kapag nagkikita kami nagbabatian kami. Kaya hindi ko maisip bakit bigla niya akong sinuntok sa tiyan. ‘Kuya sinuntok mo ko? Sinikmuraan mo ko?'” said Castro.
“Sabi ko nga kuya wala nang time, panalo na kayo. Susuntukin mo pa ko?” added the Pampanga native as he recalled the incident that took place late in Talk 'N Text's 88-122 loss to the Boosters.
Told that Tubid had relayed his apology and said the blow was "unintentional," Castro was incredulous but nonetheless accepted the apology.
“Hindi ko alam bakit niya nagawa yun? Kasi paanong hindi sadya ... closed fist. Hindi ko alam nasa isip niya,” Castro said.
The Talk 'N Text guard continued: “Oo, apology accepted na yun. Wala na sa akin yun. Ayoko nang palakihin pa yun. Wala nang problema.
“Basta sa akin, wala na yun. Ako naman basketball lang. Wala nang kung anu-ano,” he added.
Tubid has been summoned to appear before Commissioner Chito Salud on Friday morning and Castro said he wished that no stiff penalty would be meted on the Petron enforcer.
“Sana hindi mabigat yung parusa niya kung hindi naman niya sinadya eh,” said Castro.
