THE PBA is just on a stand by as it awaits the plans of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) and national coach Chot Reyes regarding Gilas Pilipinas' buildup for the 2014 Fiba-World Cup in Spain.
League commissioner Chito Salud said he has yet to meet with top SBP officials and Reyes regarding the matter, although the Gilas mentor already mentioned that he wants at least three months of preparation for the team in an earlier interview with Spin.ph.

“We’re just waiting for them. All they have to do is tell us their plan. Ano ba ang gusto nilang gawin? Saka kami gagawa ng hakbang,” said Salud.
As it is, the league will have to work its calendar next season around the national team’s preparation and actual participation in the world championship set in Spain from August 30 to September 14.
The oldest pro league in Asia did the same thing this year to accommodate the buildup of the national team and the country’s hosting of the 27th Fiba-Asia Championship, which served as the qualifying meet to the Fiba-World Cup.
But in the aftermath of the country’s successful hosting of the Fiba-Asia meet and the sensational runner-up finish of Gilas Pilipinas that paved the way for the return of the Philippines to the world championship after a 35-year absence, the PBA also had to re-adjust several times its playing calendar and is currently cramming in the season-ending Governors Cup with a five-times a week play date.
Salud however, is not complaining, stressing that the PBA has long extended its help as far as national cause is concern.
“Never naman tumanggi ang PBA ng tulong. And I’m sure nakita at naramdaman ng lahat yan in the last Fiba Asia Championship,” said the commissioner.
