After enjoying the support of the Filipino people during the FIBA Asia Championship, it’s time for players of the Philippine national men’s basketball team to give back.
Members of Gilas Pilipinas, from coach Chot Reyes to players to team officials, have donated their own money for a fund for flood victims.
Severe flooding brought about by torrential monsoon rains enhanced by typhoon “Maring” has affected more than a million people, prompting two provinces, five towns, and three cities to declare a state of calamity as of Wednesday.
Gilas Pilipinas encourages fans to donate to the cause as well.
Priority donations in kind such as rice, canned goods, and items of hygiene may be dropped off at the Alagang Kapatid Foundation office at 730 Quirino Highway, San Bartolome, Quezon City or at the MVP Tulong Kapatid Center at the Meralco compound in Ortigas.
