Members of the Philippine national men’s basketball team along with players from PBA clubs Talk ‘N Text and Meralco and college squads Ateneo and San Beda will join relief operations for flood victims.
In a text message, Gilas Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes said players from the national squad and Talk ‘N Text, Meralco, and Ateneo are scheduled to be at the MVP Tulong Kapatid Center at the Meralco compound in Ortigas by 4 p.m. to help with the efforts.
Severe flooding brought about by torrential monsoon rains enhanced by typhoon “Maring” has affected more than a million people, prompting two provinces, five towns, and three cities to declare a state of calamity as of Wednesday.
Players from defending NCAA champion San Beda, meanwhile, will be at the disaster evacuation center in Baseco compound in Manila.
Priority donations in kind such as rice, canned goods, and items of hygiene may be dropped off at the Meralco compound or at the Alagang Kapatid Foundation office at 730 Quirino Highway, San Bartolome, Quezon City.
Cash and check donations may also be sent through the following channels:
