South Korea turned around from a tough loss the previous night to defeat Chinese Taipei, 75-57, to win the bronze medal in the FIBA Asia Championship on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The gave South Korea the last ticket to the Basketball World Cup in Spain next year.
South Korea showed few effects of its defeat on Saturday at the hands of host Philippines in the semifinals, running out to a 29-13 lead in the opening period.
Kim Mingoo, who sizzled for 27 points in the final four, remained hot in the battle for third, finishing with 21 on 5-of-10 shooting from three-point distance.
Four other players scored at least nine points for the South Koreans, who used their trademark tough defense to shackle their East Asian rivals. South Korea held Chinese Taipei to just 36 percent shooting and translated 17 turnovers into 19 points.
Taiwanese star Lin Chih-Chieh was scoreless for the second straight game, leaving Lu Cheng-Ju (13 points) and Quincy Davis to try to keep them in the ballgame.
After a historic win over China last Friday, Chinese Taipei lost its last two assignments to fall short of a spot in the world stage.
